Explained: Why Cristiano Ronaldo wants Marcelo at Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr could be the perfect destination for the Brazilian great considering he will be reunited with his former teammate and close friend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo

Bengaluru, February 23: Cristiano Ronaldo wants Al-Nassr to sign former Real Madrid left-back Marcelo. The Brazilian full-back is currently without a club after Greek side Olympiacos terminated his contract due to fitness issues.

According to reports, the decorated former Brazil international is currently in Valdebebas as he recovers from injury. While Los Blancos are interested in having the player back at the club in another capacity, Marcelo is keen to continue his career as a player.

Al-Nassr could provide Marcelo with the opportunity to link up with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo once again. The duo formed a deadly partnership on the left flank for Real Madrid during their time in the Spanish capital.

MLS outfit LA Galaxy are also interested in acquiring Marcelo's services and could potentially damage the SPL side's plans to reunite the two former Real Madrid teammates.

Marcelo made only 10 appearances during his time with Green giants Olympiakcos, scoring three goals in the process. The flying left-back spent the best years of his career at Real Madrid and appeared for Los Blancos between 2007 and 2022.

He scored 38 goals and provided 103 assists in 546 games across competitions during his time at the Spanish capital club following his move from Brazilian side Fluminese. He formed an excellent bond with Cristiano Ronaldo on the left flank and made the club almost unplayable through the left.

Known for his flamboyance and exquisite technique, Marcelo was arguably the most skilled full-back of his generation. The 34-year-old has struggled with persistent injuries at Olympiacos during his time at the club and could benefit from a move outside Europe.

Al-Nassr could be the perfect destination for the Brazilian great considering he will be reunited with his former teammate and close friend Cristiano Ronaldo. A move to Saudi Arabia could also help him elongate his career.
