Fabregas Commits To Como Amid Exit Rumours As Club Pursues Champions League Push
Cesc Fabregas has underlined commitment to Como, dismissing any suggestion of leaving the Serie A club. Fabregas stressed a strong bond with the project, while Como chase Champions League qualification in only their second season back in Italy’s top division. The team sit fifth after 32 league matches and remain close to the competition places.
Como lost 4-3 against leaders Inter on Sunday, yet stay firmly in the race. Fabregas’ side trail fourth-placed Juventus by two points in a tight battle. Como also remain active in domestic cups, adding further weight to Fabregas’ influence on the club’s current direction and near-term ambitions.

Fabregas has already overseen 70 Serie A fixtures as Como head coach. The team have earned 29 wins, 20 draws and 21 defeats under Fabregas. That record gives an average of 1.53 points per match, backing up last season’s top-half finish in the 2024-25 campaign and highlighting consistent progress since promotion.
Defensive strength and attacking output have driven this Serie A push. Como have conceded only 26 league goals this season, the lowest total in the division. In attack, Inter lead the scoring charts with 75 goals, while Como follow closely with 56. The balance between structure and creativity has helped stabilise the club at this higher level.
| Team | Competition | Stat | Number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Como | Serie A | Current position | 5th |
| Como | Serie A | Goals conceded | 26 |
| Como | Serie A | Goals scored | 56 |
| Inter | Serie A | Goals scored | 75 |
Fabregas explained that interest arrived from another Italian club last summer. However, Fabregas chose not to move and instead remained at Como. That decision aligned with the current project, which aims to establish Como among Italy’s leading sides after a rapid climb from lower divisions.
"That would seem very unlikely, because I am very involved and attached to Como," replied Fabregas when asked if he could see himself at a different Italian club. "It is true that I was contacted last year, but I decided to stay because I love this club. I am very happy with what I can do and what we are achieving at Como. The project is very important to me. I dont want to seem presumptuous here, but I do this work purely for the passion, so I need to feel that I can do something new."
Support around the club has increased as Como challenge established Serie A teams. Fabregas links on-field progress to this connection with fans and directors. The head coach’s stance points towards continuity, with focus placed on securing a Champions League spot and a possible Coppa Italia final appearance.
