'It's his Opinion, I don't agree with this': FC Goa coach Manolo Marquez opines on Carles Cuadrat's Refereeing Criticisms

FC Goa coach Manolo Marquez says East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat's opinion on the referees in ISL is his personal opinion.

East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat has shown his frustration with the refereeing in the league in the recent past. After a series of decisions which went against the Kolkata team, Carles Cuadrat slammed the officiating in the league and said he has nightmares in sleep.

Manolo Marquez plays down Carles Cuadrat s Refereeing Criticisms

"Poor decisions are changing the results of the game and unfortunately it is happening a lot in ISL. But there is one more thing, that is the referees, they are like us professionals and they are having a very poor season. And someone has to be sacked there like all the other professionals," Cuadrat said ahead of East Bengal's match against Chennayin FC recently.

Cuadrat slammed the AIFF Chief of Referees Trevor Kettle and asked to change the system to improve the conditions. The East Bengal coach also suggested three options to ISL to improve the quality of officiating in the top-tier league of the country.

But Manolo Marquez has played down the refereeing claims and says they only want to focus on their own performances.

"It's his opinion. I don't agree with this, nothing to say. Everyone has their own opinion. If I say my opinion a lot of people won't agree with me. We can't change anything on the level of the referees. They make mistakes, same as the coaches and the referees," Marquez said ahead of the East Bengal match on Tuesday.

"Everyone will finish in the position that they deserve. Maybe in one or two games, the decision is going for you or against you, but forget the performance of the referees and be focused on the thing that you can control," Marquez added.

It will be an interesting battle as the two teams lock horns in Goa on Wednesday. East Bengal's quest for the playoffs will face a huge test against the Gaurs, who are also in desperate need of three points to keep their ISL shield hopes alive.
