FC Goa vs Odisha FC Result, Kalinga Super Cup 2024: Odisha qualify for semifinals with thrilling 3-2 victory

Odisha FC secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over FC Goa, earning a spot in the semifinals of the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 on Monday at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

The game unfolded with Ahmed Jahouh (51') opening the scoring, followed by Mourtada Fall's impressive brace (61' & 66') using his head. Despite Carlos Martinez's double efforts for FC Goa (75' & 86'), the Kalinga Warriors held their ground and emerged victorious in the battle. Consequently, Manolo Marquez's Gaurs bowed out of the competition.

In the 9th minute, a decent Raynier ball was aimed for Boris Singh, but Odisha keeper Ralte boldly dived to save it. Boris, however, suffered a knee knock.

In the 10th minute, Amey and Roy executed a one-two before Amey attempted to deliver a cross, but it went straight to Dheeraj. Carl McHugh took a shot with his left foot in the 19th minute, and Ralte tipped it over for a corner. By the 22nd minute, Roy Krishna had maneuvered past Noah to cut back the ball inside the box, but there was no one present to slot it home.

In the 40th minute, Diego Mauricio managed to slip through Isaka Ralte, but he was halted by Seriton Fernandes. On the counter, Raynier located Carlos Martinez, whose shot was excellently saved by Ralte.

It was goalless at the break, with both teams unable to break the deadlock. However, the Gaurs demonstrated their strength in the last few minutes of the first half.

In the 51st minute of the game, the Kalinga Warriors seized the lead when Ahmed Jahouh's long cross landed straight into the hands of Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem. A penalty was awarded to Odisha FC, and Ahmed Jahouh calmly and composedly slotted the ball into the corner.

In the 59th minute, Jahouh delivered the ball to the near post, and Carlos Delgado made a run to connect with the header, but unfortunately, his attempt went wide.

In the 61st minute, Odisha FC extended their lead when Ahmed Jahouh's corner found M.Fall in the middle. He leaped as high as possible to successfully place the ball into the back of the net.

In the 66th minute of the game, Odisha FC secured their third goal with Jahouh's free kick and M. Fall's header. The scenario could only signify one outcome. Jahouh delivered another outstanding ball into the box, and Fall asserted his presence with a remarkable header.

In the 75th minute, Carlos Martinez restored hope for the Gaurs, capitalizing on a stumble from Mourtada Fall and stylishly seizing the chance.

In the 86th minute of the game, FC Goa was granted a free kick. Carlos Martinez stepped up to take it, and the deflection directed it past Ralte.

Odisha FC's next challenge awaits against Mumbai City FC on Thursday in the semi-final of the Kalinga Super Cup 2024.
