What a show by FC Goa as they make light work of newly-promoted I-League side Shillong Lajong with three goals in either of the halves! Hat-trick hero Noah Sadoui, Brandon Fernandes and Rowllin Borges were the standout performers on the day. Shillong Lajong are virtually out of the tournament after galloping 10 goals in two games unless they do a miracle in their last game and somehow clinch one of the lucky losers' spots! Half Time: Complete domination by FC Goa as a quick brace from Noah Sadoui after Rowllin Borges scored the opener saw the Gaurs race to a 3-0 lead early in the first half. Shillong seemed out of their depth during the game while FC Goa players found gaps in Shillong defense with ease. Brandon Fernandes has been impressive in the midfield with his array of passing abilities while Devendera Murgaonkar impressed before forced substituion nearing the break!

Indian Super League heavyweights FC Goa will kick off their 132nd IndianOil Durand Cup 2023 campaign as they take on Shillong Lajong at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday (August 8).
The Group D match will kick off at 3 PM and will be the second match for Shillong Lajong, who were battered in their opening game 4-0 by NorthEast United. Another defeat on Tuesday could very much end their chances of making it to the knockout stages as only one team directly progresses from each group.
For FC Goa, it's the start of a new era as Manolo Marquez takes charge of the club after an impressive stint with Hyderabad FC. The Spanish coach has named a 25-member squad for the tournament in the build-up to the ISL later this year.
"We want to win the Durand Cup and start our league campaign on a strong note. Playing as many games as possible, qualifying for the semi-finals or the finals and so on will benefit us greatly," said Manolo Marquez ahead of the match.
FC Goa have moved off some key names, including Edu Bedia, Rowllin Borges, Iker Guarrotxena, Amarjit Singh Kiyam among others but have signed in some eye-catching names in Sandesh Jhingan, Udanta Singh, Boris Singh.
Apart from them, foreign players were also brought in Spanish midfielder Victor Rodriguez from Odisha FC while Portuguese-Australian midfielder Paulo Retre was signed on a free transfer from Sydney FC.
Centre-back Ode Onaindia has joined from Hyderabad FC as the sole player to come with the new manager from his old club. Moroccan Noah Sadaoui has joined in as well while young indigenous talents Muhammed Nemil and Devendra Murgaokar are the club's investment in developing the Gaurs for the future.
For Shillong Lajong, who returned to I-League this season, the match will be about taking positives from the fact that they appeared a better side in the second half after NEUFC's early onslaught. The introduction of Phrangki Buam was crucial and could start this game as well.
