New Delhi, Sep 9: Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Pune City have signed Brazilian striker Diego Carlos for the upcoming season, the club has confirmed on Friday.

Carlos is a versatile player who natural position is on the right wing however he can also operate as a striker if needed.

He spent his youth days at Popular Brazilian club Flamengo, however, he later left the club and made his senior debut with Brazilian side Duque de Caxias.

He also later played for clubs like Corinthians Alagoano and experienced his profession in for Russia. He scored 10 goals in 31 matches for FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod there and later in the second division with FC UFA where he backed the side to gain promotion to the top division striking an essential role.

On signing the Brazilian, the club CEO Gaurav Modwel was seen ecstatic to reveal the news and suggested that the signing will add more Brazilian flavour to their team.

“Diego's game has this rare quality of controlled aggression. His ability to seamlessly shift from being an attacking midfielder to a striker with exceptional ball control skills makes him a potent weapon for our team. Along with Marcelinho, (Jonatan) Lucca he will add the typical Brazilian flair to our team,” Modwel said.

Carlos also revealed his delight in joining the ISL side and suggested he is eager to play alongside his two countrymen.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter in my football career. I have heard great things about the league as well as FC Pune City. It will be good to play alongside my country-mates Jonatan and Marcelinho. Expect me to give my 100% for the club to ensure the fans have reasons to celebrate,” Carlos said.

New coach Antonio Habas's team performance has not been up to the mark for the last three edition and till now they are yet to break into the top four.

However, with high profile signing of ISL 2016 top scorer Marcelinho and veteran players like Rafael Lopez and Damir Grgic to their team, the Stallion can now dream of a good run in this edition of the Indian Super League.
