Fenerbahce's vice-president, Acun Ilicali, has clarified that the Turkish club is not pursuing Manchester United's Marcus Rashford in the upcoming January transfer window. Despite rumours linking Rashford with a move, Ilicali emphasised that Fenerbahce is not interested in signing the England international.
Rashford has been out of favour at Manchester United under new manager Ruben Amorim. Amorim has openly questioned Rashford's professionalism, leading to his absence from the team since December 12. The manager even suggested he would prefer to play a 63-year-old coach over a player who doesn't give his best consistently.

Despite Rashford's situation at United, Fenerbahce, managed by former United boss Jose Mourinho, has distanced itself from any potential deal for the 27-year-old forward. Ilicali stated, "Actually, it was in the news that we are interested in him. I think Rashford is a fantastic player, I really like him."
Ilicali explained that signing another player in Rashford's position would be illogical given their current squad composition. "When you have some players in your team [who play in the same role], it is not logical to get two players in the same position who are much better than other players," he noted.
Rashford has had a long association with Manchester United, joining them at age seven. During his time with the club, he has won several trophies including the Europa League and two FA Cups. His recent form includes four goals and an assist from 15 league matches this season.
Ilicali also highlighted the importance of regular playing time for players like Rashford. "What I will say is that these types of players need to play, play, play," he mentioned. He expressed concern that bringing Rashford to Fenerbahce could limit opportunities for their existing players.
The January transfer window will close on February 3. As speculation continues around Rashford’s future, Fenerbahce remains firm on their stance against pursuing him this season.
