Ferencvaros secured a 2-1 victory over Rangers in the Europa League, significantly diminishing the Scottish team's chances of advancing to the knockout stages. Bojan Miovski initially put Rangers ahead with a bicycle kick, but Bence Otvos and Barnabas Varga turned the game around for Ferencvaros. This result leaves Rangers six points behind the last playoff spot with two matches remaining.

Early in the match, Ferencvaros nearly took the lead when Bamidele Yusuf's shot narrowly missed. However, Miovski capitalised on a blocked attempt by Danilo to score an acrobatic goal for Rangers. Despite this setback, Ferencvaros quickly responded. Robbie Keane's squad almost equalised soon after, but Yusuf's effort only found the side-netting.

Barnabas Varga has been a standout performer in the Europa League. Since last season, he has scored more goals than any other player in the competition, with ten goals to his name. The momentum carried into the second half as Varga seemed poised to give his team the lead again. Although Nasser Djiga made a crucial tackle to stop him initially, Varga eventually succeeded in scoring.

Rangers struggled to maintain their lead as Ferencvaros dominated possession and created more opportunities throughout the match. The Hungarian side recorded 1.64 expected goals (xG) from 16 shots compared to Rangers' 1.15 xG from seven attempts. This dominance was evident despite Rangers scoring one of the tournament's most impressive goals.

In the 72nd minute, Varga finally broke through once more by heading Callum O'Dowda's cross past Jack Butland. This goal secured a comeback win for Ferencvaros and highlighted Varga's importance to his team. His performance included creating two chances and taking three shots.

This defeat leaves Rangers facing an uphill battle to qualify for the next round of the Europa League. With two games left and Celtic still on their schedule, they must overcome significant challenges to keep their hopes alive.
