Roma have secured Evan Ferguson on a loan from Brighton for the season. The Italian club has an option to purchase him permanently. Ferguson, who showed promise in the Premier League with Brighton during the 2022-23 season, struggled last year. He spent the latter part of the campaign on loan at West Ham but failed to make a significant impact.
The Republic of Ireland forward played only 151 minutes in eight league matches for West Ham, without scoring or assisting. His lack of form led Brighton's manager, Fabian Hurzeler, to consider him surplus to requirements. Now, Ferguson aims to revive his career in Rome.

Hurzeler commented on Brighton's website: "Evan had a challenging period across the past season and a half, and it has been one disrupted by niggling injury issues which hasn't allowed him a run of games. He is over those injuries and has come back in great shape."
Ferguson's move to Roma presents a chance to regain his form in Serie A. Hurzeler expressed optimism about Ferguson's future: "This is an exciting opportunity in a strong league and with the prospect of European football. We wish Evan well for the season ahead and will be watching his progress closely throughout the season."
Ferguson is eager to play regularly after overcoming injury setbacks. His determination aligns with Roma's ambitions as they compete domestically and potentially in Europe. This move could be pivotal for both Ferguson's career and Roma's attacking options.
