The announcement of the prize fund faced delays until a global broadcasting deal was finalized in December with DAZN, a streaming service. DAZN later received a significant investment from a Saudi Arabian state-backed sports agency.

FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Prize Money: How Much Will Teams Earn?

The inaugural 32-team FIFA Club World Cup in the United States will offer substantial financial rewards as FIFA officially announced details of the $1 billion prize pool on Wednesday, clarifying the distribution of funds among participating clubs, with the winning team potentially earning up to $125 million.

FIFA has set aside $525 million in guaranteed participation fees for the teams competing in the tournament. The top-ranked European club, such as Real Madrid, will receive $38.19 million, while the Oceania representative, Auckland City, will be awarded $3.58 million.

FIFA Club World Cup: How Do Entry Fees Differ by Continent?

Each of the 12 European clubs participating in the tournament will receive a minimum of $12.81 million as an entry fee. FIFA stated that these payments would be determined based on a ranking system that considers sporting and commercial criteria though specific details were not disclosed.

South American teams will each receive a $15.21 million entry fee. Clubs from Africa, Asia, and the CONCACAF region of North America will also receive financial compensation, though precise figures were not specified.

Additionally, FIFA has committed $250 million to clubs worldwide that did not qualify for the tournament. However, the number of clubs receiving payments and the exact amounts remain unclear.

FIFA Club World Cup: Which Clubs Have Qualified for Different Continents?

Several high-profile European clubs have secured their places in the tournament. Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea qualified by either winning the UEFA Champions League between 2021 and 2024 or maintaining consistent performances over those four seasons. FIFA implemented a cap of two clubs per country unless a nation had three Champions League winners.

Austria’s Salzburg secured the final European spot despite never progressing beyond the round of 16, as higher-ranked clubs such as Liverpool and Barcelona were ineligible due to the country cap.

Al Ahly FC and Wydad AC will join the tournament as CAF Champions League winners between 2021 and 2024. Al Hilal, Urawa Red Diamonds and Al Ain FC will enter the tournament from Asia as winners of the AFC Champions League during this period.

CF Monterrey, Seattle Sounders, Club Leon and CF Pachuca will join the competition as CONCACAF Champions Cup winners. However, Mexico’s Club Leon is challenging its removal from the competition by FIFA due to shared ownership with CF Pachuca.

From South America, Brazil will be represented by four clubs as all the four CONMEBOL Libertadores winners between 2021-24 are from Brazil. The clubs are; Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense and Botafogo.

Each participating club from Asia, Africa and the CONCACAF region will receive $9.55 million. Inter Miami, featuring Lionel Messi, will also participate in the tournament despite not winning the MLS Cup last season, as the USA will get one host nation slot in this tournament.

What’s Next for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025?

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup marks a significant expansion of the tournament, with a substantial prize fund aimed at rewarding top-performing clubs. While FIFA has outlined financial incentives for participation and performance, some aspects, including payments to non-qualifying clubs and team selection controversies, remain subjects of discussion.
