FIFA has recently demonstrated the layout of the inaugural Intercontinental Cup, which will start from September 22 and conclude later this year.
The tournament consists of continental champions across the globe and a series of matches will be played before the final on December 18. Announced last December, it replaces the annual Club World Cup, which will now occur every four years with 32 teams starting in 2025.

At the moment, the Copa Libertadores is ongoing and the quarterfinals are being played. The eight teams who are playing in the quarterfinals are-
Fluminense, Botafogo, Sao Paulo, Atletico Mineiro, Flamengo, Penarol, Colo Colo, River Plate.
The initial match of the qualifying rounds will see Al Ain, winners of the AFC Champions League, face Auckland City, champions of the OFC Champions League. The victor from this encounter will then compete against Al Ahly, who clinched the CAF Champions League title. The match has been named as the African-Asian Pacific Cup.
Meanwhile, Pachuca, winners of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, will play against the CONMEBOL Libertadores champions in a match known as the "Derby of the Americas."
The winners of the African-Asian-Pacific Cup and the Derby of the Americas will then play against each other in match, and the winner will face Real Madrid in the Final on December 18.
