Mohun Bagan Super Giant has received a significant boost ahead of the new season as FIFA's Disciplinary Committee officially lifted the club's transfer ban.
The restriction, originally imposed on May 5 due to a payment dispute involving Australian forward Jason Cummings' former side, Central Coast Mariners, is no longer in effect, clearing the way for the club to sign new players.

The ban was the result of outstanding dues owed to the A-League outfit, but Mohun Bagan acted quickly to resolve the issue. The Kolkata-based club submitted an exhaustive 107-page response to FIFA and promptly addressed two follow-up inquiries from the global football governing body.
"Mohun Bagan submitted a 107-page document to FIFA and thereafter there were two queries, and finally the disciplinary committee has sent a mail lifting the ban," a club official confirmed to PTI.
This swift resolution stands in contrast to the experience of Mumbai City FC, who faced a similar sanction earlier this year. It took nearly three months for their transfer ban to be lifted. In Mohun Bagan's case, the matter was resolved in less than a month, reflecting the club's urgency and organizational response.
The timing of the decision could not be better. With the summer transfer window opening on June 9, Mohun Bagan now has the green light to move forward with squad reinforcement plans for the upcoming season. The club had been in limbo over player signings during the crucial pre-season period, but the lifted ban now allows full participation in the market.
The positive news also coincides with a recent leadership change at the club, with Debasish Dutta stepping in as president and Srinjoy Bose taking over as general secretary. Their administrative tenure has begun with a notable achievement off the pitch, and fans will now look ahead with optimism as the Mariners prepare for another competitive campaign.
With the ban lifted, Mohun Bagan is expected to act quickly in the transfer market to strengthen its squad and make a strong start to the season.
