FIFA will conduct its annual award ceremony on February 27 in the event to honor the absolute best in international football throughout 2022. Among the FIFA Best Player Award and FIFA Team of the season, eyes will also be on the FIFA Puksas award.
FIFA has already released the three finalists for the Puskas Award- the annual prize which is handed to an individual who scores the 'most beautiful’ goal of the year. Richarlison, Marcin Oleksy, and Dimitri Payet have been chosen as the final three candidates in contention for the current honor.
The Tottenham Hotspur attacker's goal could be the most popular in this list. Richarlison's goal came in last year's World Cup for Brazil in a half-overhead half-scissor kick. It was Selecao's first goal in the tournament and also landed the best goal of the World Cup 2022.
The French attacker is well known for scoring outstanding goals and he delivered something similar last year as well. A screamer from outside the box that went high into the net was enough to get a place reserved in this coveted list.
Not a well-known name to most of the World however his last year's effort definitely now have brought a lot of attraction. The Polish amputee player scored an amazing acrobatic goal that could be a dream of many top footballers.
The award was created in 2009 to pay tribute to Ferenc Puskas, a striker for Real Madrid who hails from Hungary and is widely recognized as one of the game's all-time greats. FIFA Puskas Award is chosen by a panel of football experts while the public can also vote for their favorite goal online. The inaugural recipient of the Puskas Award is the Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
