Fifa World Cup 2014: Japanese fans clean up stadium after team's loss

Recife (Brazil), June 17: The Japanese might have lost on the ground, but they won all hearts off it. On Saturday, supporters of the Blue Samurais showed to the world how a loss can look graceful when they took to pain to stay behind the match against the Ivory Coast to help clean up Arena Pernambuco, the stadium where the game took place.

Japan lost the Group C game 1-2 to Didier Drogba's men despite taking an early lead and would have to produce victories against Colombia and Greece in the remaining two matches to stay alive in this World Cup.

But the technicalities of the tournament didn't stop Japan's supporters from carrying out their civic duty. They gathered strewn litter on their side of the stadium and put it in bins.

The Japanese fans' act took many by surprise by that is the country's custom



The Japanese are known for gathering waste after a sporting event in their own country but their gesture in Brazil came as a surprise to fans from other countries.

The Japanese gesture was appreciated all across with pictures of the do-gooders' spreading fast on the social media.
