Bengaluru, March 2: The biggest ever global football event, FIFA World Cup 2018 is just three months from kick off in Russia with the contestants ready to lock horns in the multilateral soccer event.

When the World Cup is on it's always an event for the stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but there are a lot of players who have made their mark in club football and are waiting to showcase their skills in the big stage.

Every four years, we see players like Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina and midfielder James Rodríguez take the entire world by surprise with their jaw-dropping saves and stunning goals.

They are gifted with talent and they have the calibre to startle football pundits and its fans.

Hence, like every year there will be some players who are renowned faces in club football, but are yet to show their quality to a wider fan base.

So, here we will discuss those players who are gearing up to surprise the world with their talent and performance.

Among those surprising footballers, Germany's Timo Werner is a big name. This youngster is expected to show his skills in front of passionate spectators. He is just 21 but he has already proved himself on a stage like Confederations Cup in Russia last year by helping Germany to lift the title. It was just a glimpse of what he could do in the World Cup.  

It will be waiting for the mega global event to prove his worth as a skilled footballer. He is known for his penchant for accurate passing. In Russia, he would like to continue his dream run.

Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez will be on top of his game to help Algeria to surpass the group stage. It will be a tough task though.

Dembele was one of the big buys in 2017 when Barcelona spent a whopping $118 million on the French youngster. The 20-year-old is a talented forward and could be a big asset for France in the World Cup. No doubt, Dembele's presence will strengthen France's already stacked attack.

He is the current sensation in the Premier League with Liverpool. Mohamed Salah also shouldered the responsibility to help Egypt to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 25 year-old Egyptian has been scoring goals for fun this season and has netted 23 for Liverpool in the league. He needs two more to grab the number one position replacing Harry Kane.

This forward scored two goals in Egypt's final qualifying game against Congo to make it through to Russia. He will give a big confidence boost to Egypt in the World Cup.

Meanwhile, one of the big names in the list is Gaston Silver, a fierce defender from Uruguay. He plays for Independent in the Argentine football league. He can play as a left back or as a centre-half.

He is known as the free-kick and corner specialist. Uruguay didn't have to work hard to book the ticket to Russia from South America as Silver was rock solid in the defence along with star defender and captain Diego Godin.
