Terror threat to FIFA World Cup

Baghdad, May 18: FIFA World Cup 2010 organisers are set to thwart terror threat as an Iraq official arrested an al Qaeda member for planning an attack on World Cup football tournament June, to be held in South Africa.

Major General Qassim al-Moussawi, the Baghdad security spokesman, has not given any details yet or offer evidence for the claim to verify the information.

Moussawi informed the Prime Minister's office that the alleged was planning to bomb the holy shrines in Najaf and Kerbala. He was planning a terrorist act in South Africa during the World Cup based on plans issued by the central al Qaeda terrorist organization in coordination with Osama Bin Laden's first assistant, Ayman al Zawahiri.

But the request to Moussawi seeking more details were not answered.
