India's qualification chances
The draw against Afghanistan puts India in an uncomfortable situation as they must win their remaining games against Afghanistan and Kuwait before facing mighty Qatar in their own den.
Assuming, Kuwait, will get the better off Afghanistan in their remainder of three matches, the India vs Kuwait match on June 6 could be the decider of the second position in the group.
India, who finished bottom of the group stages at the AFC Asian Cup last January, are optimistic of their chances of making the third round since defeating Kuwait 1-0 in Kuwait City last year. Manvir Singh's second-half goal, assisted by Lallinzuala Chhangte sealed three points in that game.
India's failure to reach the third round or an unexpected result as early as the next match against Afghanistan could lead to Igor Stimac's ouster as the head coach of Indian football team as the Croatian has promised to take India to the third round.
