Fire hazard at Manchester United's stadium Old Trafford

Several eye-witnesses saw smoke coming out of the stands of Old Trafford today morning.

Manchester, Jan 30: English Premier League giants Manchester United's home stadium Old Trafford caught fire today, January 30, morning according to several British media houses.

Several eye-witnesses, who was outside the stadium today morning reportedly saw smoke coming out of the stadium stands.

According to The Manchester Evening News, the problem occurred due to a fault in the lift motor in the ground. But now they have confirmed the problem has been solved and there is no reason to panic.

Manchester United Evening News quoted a stadium spokesperson: "We were called at 6.58am to Sir Matt Busby Way.

"Three fire engines from Manchester, Salford and Stretford attended the scene. We have isolated the electrics and extinguished the fire using breathing apparatus and a CO2 fire extinguisher. We are still on the scene."

Manchester United take on relegation-threatened Hull City in their next EPL encounter on Wednesday, February 1 at the Old Trafford stadium.
