Madrid, November 23: Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has drafted a five-man transfer shortlist to make an overhaul of the squad.
Zinedine Zidane's side have struggled to keep pace with Barcelona in La Liga this season and sit 10 points behind Ernesto Valverde's men and this has concerned the president of the club.
According to Diario Gol, Perez's wishlist includes Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli, Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, Juventus striker Paulo Dybala and keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga of Athletic Bilbao.
The departures of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea, James Rodriguez to Bayern Munich and Pepe to Besiktas as well as the failure to adequately replace properly has made the Los Blancos struggle this campaign.
Cristiano Ronaldo has also struggled to impress compared to his standards in the La Liga and the whole team has failed to rise up to the occasion.
Kane and Dybala are Perez's favourites to bolster their attacking options with the Englishman netting eight Premier League goals for Tottenham so far this season and Dybala contributing 12 in 13 games for Juventus in Serie A.
Alli is viewed as a possible replacement for Dani Ceballos, who has struggled for first-team football since joining Los Blancos from Real Betis this summer. Luka Modric is ageing and Dele Alli could turn out to be the perfect successor of the Croat.
David de Gea of Manchester United remains a long-term target of Perez's in goal but reports suggest Bilbao's Arrizabalaga is now the preferred option as the latter would be available for much lesser price.
Marquinhos has also been identified to shore up a defence that sometimes looks exposed in the absence of either Sergio Ramos or Raphael Varane.
Arrizabalaga's team-mate Aymeric Laporte, Inigo Martínez of Real Sociedad and Bayern's David Alaba are also being considered by the Spanish giants.
To sum it up, Perez is looking for improvements in almost every position of the team and have the funds to do that as well. We now have to wait and see how much of it he can translate to reality.
