Foden And Guardiola Praise Haaland's Incredible Volley In City's Dominant Win
Phil Foden and Pep Guardiola expressed admiration for Erling Haaland's remarkable performance in Manchester City's 5-0 victory over Sparta Prague. Haaland scored twice, but it was his first goal that captured attention. The forward acrobatically flicked Savinho's cross into the net, marking his 20th Champions League goal for City. "If I tried to do that, I'd pull my groin," Foden told TNT Sports. "I don't know how he did it; I just think it's just his long legs. He's a freak, isn't he?"
Haaland's incredible effort reminded Guardiola of a similar goal against Borussia Dortmund during Haaland's debut season with City. "It's unbelievable," Guardiola said. "He's so tall and so flexible. It's very similar to the Dortmund one a few years ago. Unbelievable." Haaland has now scored 21 Champions League goals in just 23 appearances for City.

Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has not lost a Champions League match with the team, playing in 23 of their last 26 games. This unbeaten run is now a European Cup record, surpassing Manchester United's previous record of 25 matches from 2007 to 2009.
Stones' Contribution
John Stones also made an impact by scoring City's third goal, marking his third goal in six matches. Guardiola compared Stones to Gerard Pique from Barcelona due to his goal-scoring ability: "When Erling is not available, John can play as a striker," Guardiola said.
Foden's Form and Ambitions
Foden is regaining form after a slow start this season. He opened the scoring against Sparta Prague and aims to return to last year's performance level: "I was the best player last year, and that's what everyone wants to see," he stated.
Despite waiting for his first Premier League goal this season, Foden continues to excel in European competitions with seven goals in eight Champions League starts.
This victory highlights Manchester City's strength and depth as they continue their impressive run in European football.
