Football: Dempo eager to win title early

By Pti
Margao, Apr 14: Dempo, who has taken firm grip towards winning the title after their impressive win over Churchill Brothers are now set to finish early as they prepare themselves to meet Sporting Clube de Goa tomorrow in the I-League, to be played at Nehru Stadium in Fatorda here.

Dempo, who ended Churchill Brothers title challenge with an impressive 4-2 win, are seven points clear of Pune FC and nine points against East Bengal who have played one match less than Dempo.

Dempo coach Armando Colaco is hoping that his boys continue to play in the same vein against Sporting tomorrow to garner full points as a win will place them comfortably to set up title clash against East Bengal here on April 20.

"I have full strength team at my disposal and the boys are upbeat. They are aware there is no place for complacency and are eager to finish early," stated Colaco.

While Sporting Clube de Goa who are placed eight with 37 points from 23 matches wants to win their remaining three matches and to improve their position at the top.

"I am aware of the challenge we have to face against Dempo who wants to finish the title early and will go all out for a win. My boys are ready for the same and will go all out to win and improve our position as we want to finish among the top five," said Technical Director Alex Alvares, adding captain Samananda Singh is ruled out due to injury.
