Football: India all set to defend Nehru Cup title

By Super Admin

New Delhi, Aug 19: India is all set to defend their title in the Nehru Cup. India will be facing Lebonon in the first match of the five-nation tournament beginning on Wednesday, Aug 19.

The Indian team faces many hurdles on its path to winning the title for the second time. Apart from the fact that they have no international exposure, the striker Sunil Chhetri is injured.

With the 2007 win under coach, Bob Houghton along with the clinching the AFC Challenge Cup, the team made place for itself in the AFC Asian Cup. This will be held in Doha in Jan 2011.

Therefore, the team's performance in the Nehru tournament will not only be aimed at defending the title but will also act as a yardstick with which the coach and the team can evaluate the performance before the big Asian Cup.
