We have covered the first five steps of starting your journey in Football Manager 2024.
We will cover the sixth step in this article which might be a bit annoying a boring for new players. It is managing your backroom staff.

Managing your backroom staff can be a bit annoying and hard to comprehend for beginners. It might not seem too important but it actually is. Otherwise you will not be able to develop your players to their full potential and won't be able to find the right players to sign. Each and every staff have a big role in determining your success and failure in the game.
Our recommendation will be to take half an hour at the start of your save and sort things out with your backroom staff. This will be worth it in the long run and will save you from plenty of headaches along the way. Also, it will help in every department as you progress into the game.
Try to keep check on your staff at regular intervals and never be shy of sacking the ones you don't believe are not good enough and replace them with better personnel to strengthen your backroom staff.
You will need to assess how good or bad are your backroom staff and how they fare against other clubs in the division. For that, you will need to lead to your staff tab and look at the graphs at the bottom.
These graphs compare the attributes of your scouting team to those of other clubs in the league. You will get an idea of where your backroom staff lack compared to competitors and try to improve upon your staff in whichever way possible.
There are a number of staff roles and the names are pretty much self-explanatory. For instance, A Director of Football is the one who will be your right-hand man in the running of the club at an executive level. You can assign them various tasks but in general, they are mostly used for recruitment and retention of playing and coaching staff.
They can target and sign players if you want them to. They will also add, keep and sack staff from different aspects of the club if asked so. A Technical Director's role is somewhat similar to that of a director of football but they are usually deployed to manage on-field issues. You can do his tasks yourself but hiring a quality TD can save you a lot of time and effort.
Your Head of Youth Development is in charge of bringing youth recruits into your club whereas an Assistant Manager is the go-to man for you in almost every scenario. He is the one who makes everything tick even when you are a beginner and do not understand the nitty-gritties.
Their are staffs like coaches, performance analysts, scouts, recruitment analysts, physios, sports scientists and many more who do their specific tasks. Make sure you keep on improving your backroom every department as you progress into the game. We will cover each and every staff role in detail in separate articles later.
