We have covered the first six steps of starting your Football Manager journey in our last five articles.
In this article, we will cover the next step and possibly one of the most interesting step i.e. scouting and recruitment.

Finding the right player and develop them is they key to long-term success in Football Manager. For that, you will need to make sure that you scout talents well and make the right signings along the years. This is one one the many aspects of the game that makes FM so much unique compared to other Football simulation games.
You will need to make sure that your scouting team is top notch and you should try to improve your team at every opportunity. Get the best scouts in the game so that you find the right talents and sign them to secure long-term future of the club you manage.
When you start your new save, you will be assigned a recruitment package. In Football Manager's own words, the recruitment package sets the following: The package owned determines the number of players available to search through as well as increasing the knowledge level and player role visibility of players covered.
Ultimately, the world package is the best package, but it might not necessarily be the most ideal one for the club you manage. For instance, if you are not managing a top tier with great pulling power, there is no need for the more costly world package because you cannot realistically sign top players. You will have to improve your package along the way if you start a more challenging saves such as a club in lower leagues.
The old number rating system has been replaced by a letter rating system from F to A+, making everything much more complicated. However, it is more interesting as well as the game offers more excitement in such a way. The knowledge level of your scouts also impacts how well a player's true ability and potential is judged so always try to improve your scouts.
A pro tip here is that don't always go for ratings and instead look to understand players' ratings in every department and their attributes and traits as well. When searching players, you can use the filters in player search which are self explanatory. Also don't hurry up too much while doing so and try to analyze players carefully.
Also select the regions of scouting regions carefully and use parameters like age, value, and position for your searches are obviously important depending on the type of player you want. Add players you like to your shortlist so that you can keep monitoring their situations before making your move.
We will look to discuss the transfers in detail in our next article.
