Football Transfer News: Juan Cuadrado seals Chelsea move on transfer day deadline

London, Feb 3: Premier League leader Chelsea made a major deal by completing formalities to sign Juan Cuadrado. The 26 -year old winger left Fiorentina for £26.8m for four-and- a-half-year contract, the largest outlay by a Premier League club on this transfer deadline day. Chelsea offloaded Andre Schuerrle to German side Wolsburg for £24m for a four-year-deal.

Cuadrado, who starred at the World Cup for Colombia, scored 5 goals in 17 matches for Fiorentina this season.

On other transfer news, Manchester United vice-captain Darren Fletcher was allowed to join West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer.

The 31 year old midfielder has spent his entire career at Manchester United, making 342 appearences and winning the league five times, but was unable to earn a place in Louis van Gaal's starting lineup this season.

It was a busy transfer deadline day at Tottenham Hotspur when the 21-year-old striker Harry Kane signed a new five-and-a-half-year-deal with Tottenham.

Winger Aaron Lennon was sent on loan to Everton until the end of the season after losing his place in the team and playing only three league matches this season.

In South London, Crystal Palace signed up two wingers. Wilfried Zaha was already on loan from Manchester United, but has now permanently rejoined the club he left in 2013 and signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal with Crystal Palace.

South Korean International Lee Chung-Yong joined Crystal Palace from Bolton on a contract for 3 years for an undisclosed fee.
