Football goals cause half a million car accidents

London, May 1 (ANI): Football goals are the cause of almost half a million car crashes or near misses. According to a survey conducted by insurance firm More Than, avid football devotees get so excited when they hear their team score a goal, that they lose control of the wheel.

The phenomenon has been billed as the 'Final Score Syndrome'.

"It's very difficult for genuine, passionate fans to control their emotions at a crucial moment," the Daily Star quoted David Rose from the Football Supporters Federation as saying.

Chelsea fans are the most likely victims of the Syndrome, and football lovers are going to be highly susceptible on Sunday with the Champions League final match scheduled for that day, the paper said.

"We urge fans to keep calm, keep your eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and remember, there's always next season," Pete Markey from More Than told the paper. (ANI)
