Former Barcelona goalkeeper willing to come Out of Retirement amid Ter Stegen injury

By MyKhel Staff

A former Barcelona goalkeeper has shown willingness to step out of retirement to assist Barcelona by temporarily filling in for injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Ter Stegen, Barcelona's first team custodian, encountered a significant setback after sustaining a knee injury in a recent LaLiga match against Villareal. This incident left the German international unable to continue, highlighting the urgency for a replacement.

Marc Andre Ter Stegen set to be out for a Long Time

Ter Stegen's injury is not minor as he has suffered a "complete rupture" of the patella tendon in his right knee. The severity of this injury was such that it requires surgical intervention. After attempting to intercept a high cross during the game, Ter Stegen landed awkwardly, causing his knee to buckle. Following thorough medical examinations, Barcelona confirmed the extent of Ter Stegen's injury and the necessity for surgery, which was scheduled for Monday.

The Germany international is set to be out for a lengthy period of time now. After surgery, it will take at least 8 to 9 months for Ter Stegen to be fit, which can further extend.

Apart from Ter Stegen, Barcelona only have Inaki Pena as the first team goalkeeper, and now the German's injury has caused a massive concern for the Spanish giants in that department.

Former Barcelona goalkeeper willing to ditch Retirement

Amid this, former Barcelona keeper Claudio Bravo has sent a clear message to his former employers. The Chilean, who spent two seasons at the club, has announced that he is willing to come out of retirement to play for the club. From 2014 to 2016, Brav played 75 matches for the Blaugranas. In August, Bravo had initially decided to hang up his boots, but the recent turn of events at his former club Barcelona has prompted him to reconsider.

"If Barcelona want me, I will be ready to come out of retirement", he told WinWin All Sports, as quoted by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Bravo's offer to return as Barcelona's temporary goalkeeper underscores his deep connection with the club and his readiness to support in times of need. Although it is to be seen if the 41-year-old will be called upon for his services, but Barcelona can count on the veteran if they run out of options.
