Carles Perez, a 27-year-old Spanish footballer currently playing as a right winger for Aris Thessaloniki on loan from Celta Vigo, was hospitalized in critical condition following a severe dog attack in Greece on Wednesday (July 30).
Perez is known to Barcelona fans for his brief stint at the club as a youngster and he rose through the La Masia academy.

Perez was reportedly out walking his own dog when another, unleashed dog attacked. In the process of intervening, Pérez suffered a deep bite to his genitals, resulting in a serious injury that required immediate medical attention. He was rushed to a private clinic, where he received six stitches for the wound, and his condition has been described as serious with surgical intervention under consideration. He is expected to remain in hospital for further observation and is likely to be sidelined from play for several weeks, forcing him to miss Aris's upcoming fixtures.
Aris Thessaloniki has publicly affirmed their support for Pérez and announced their intention to explore legal action against the owner of the attacking dog. The incident has generated shock and sympathy from teammates, the wider football community, and fans, given Pérez's recent move to the Greek Super League.
Carles Perez's football career began in the youth ranks of RCD Espanyol before joining FC Barcelona's youth system in 2012. He made his senior debut for Barcelona B in 2015 and achieved a breakthrough with the Barcelona first team during the 2019-20 season, scoring memorable goals in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. In January 2020, Perez moved to AS Roma, where he further developed his skills, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League with the Italian side. He then returned to Spain to play for Celta Vigo-initially on loan, later as a permanent signing. Most recently, he joined Aris Thessaloniki in July 2025, after a brief loan spell with Getafe. Over his career, Pérez has registered more than 170 professional appearances, contributing over 20 goals across top leagues in Spain and Italy.
