Former Ghana legend Mohammed Ahmed Polo has stunningly claimed that he is more popular in Arab than Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo or other groups of stars. He has also suggested that he is the first person who made the Saudi Pro League noticeable in the world.
The Middle-East League is currently the talk of the town with the arrival of some of the top stars of the game. It began with Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo heading towards Al-Nassr with a massive deal last January following his contract termination with Manchester United.

Now this summer, several top stars have followed the same route with a series of stars like Karim Benzema, Fabinho, Riyad Mahrez, Ngolo Kante, Ruben Neves, Marcelo Brozovic, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, and so on. The list is still growing and fans have labelled Ronaldo as the flag bearer of the Saudi Pro League now.
However, denying the concept Mohammed Polo, who played for the Emirati club Al Wasl between 1979 to 1984 claimed that it is he who first put the Middle East at the forefront in the world.
"It's not true," he replied when asked about Ronaldo's suggestion to have made Arab football popular.
"Ronaldo is a latter day saint. This is his time, Before Ronaldo, we were there," he added on Angel FM.
"I mean, slavery started in the Arab world and there is no way an Arab will carry a black person but they carried me because of football. They just could not let it go. Even at that time, it was at the twilight of my career," he added.
Polo is a legend in his country for leading Ghana to the Africa Cup of Nations in 1978. He then switched to the famous Dubai Club, Al Wasl in 80's where he is fondly remembered by many.
