The player was also put under oxygen as disturbing visuals showed the England international being taken off by the medics for further examinations.

What happened to Danny Welbeck?

The incident, resulting from a clash with Newcastle's Fabian Schar, interrupted Welbeck's impressive run of form, as he had earlier scored his fifth goal in eight Premier League appearances this season.

Welbeck scored the solitary goal of the match as Brighton won 1-0, but in the 81st minute, following the clash, the player had to be taken off. Welbeck was reportedly struggling to breathe and hence was put under oxygen supply. It is being reported that the former Arsenal player has suffered a potential slipped disc on his back following the collision.

How is Danny Welbeck now?

Danny Welbeck has been taken to hospital for evaluation. Although nothing has been communicated by the club or the player, Welbeck is likely to remain at the hospital for the day and only imaging tests will diagnose his issue.

The support for Danny Welbeck surged on social media platforms, where fans and followers shared their well-wishes and hopes for a swift recovery. The 33-year-old has been in terrific form for the Seagulls and will be a big miss if he is to remain on the sidelines.
