Manchester, Aug 30: Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic has suggested Jose Mourinho's summer signing Nemanja Matic has qualities like Michael Carrick and can improve the team with his title-winning mindset which will be significant for the Red Devils.
Matic won the Premier League twice with Chelsea before moving to United this window, a transfer which raised numerous questions as the 29-year-old swapped one title opponent for another.
The Serbia global has already made a significant impact at Old Trafford, helping the Red Devils win their initial three Premier League matches comprehensively against West Ham, Swansea and Leicester and stabled teammates like Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba to play freely.
Manchester United as of now look extensively more grounded with Matic in their positions And Vidic, addressing the club's legitimate site, has praised his fellow countryman.
Matic has already experience of winning the league in Benfica and Chelsea, and Vidic suggested that such winning mindset can also affect other player's motivation.
"He has similar qualities to Michael Carrick, who has been a great player for the club. Michael is now 36; Nemanja is younger at 29 but he's also very experienced. He's been at big clubs, including Benfica and Chelsea, where he's won titles," Vidic told United's official website.
"There are not so many players left at Old Trafford who have won the title before, so that trophy-winning mentality is very important because it can't only come from a very successful manager. Nemanja has been there before and he knows what it's like when the pressure really builds in a title race.
"He's a very good signing for us. He's a top player for the position and I'm surprised that Antonio Conte let him go. He played most of their games last season and did really well, so I didn't expect him to be sold to one of their biggest rivals. The way he's played in his first few games suggests he is a United player."
United will return to action after the international break with a trip to Stoke in the Premier League and will be eager to maintain their form to keep their position in the first place intact.
