Fortune List: Woods rules US, Federer bumps Becks

Detroit, Jul 22: Despite the disastrous effects on his image after his 'sexcapades' came out in the open, Tiger Woods not only continues to reign the world Golf ranking at the Numero Uno spot but also remains the the world's highest earning athlete.

According to the 2010 list of 50 wealthy athletes compiled by Sports Illustrated released on Wednesday, Jul 21, Tiger Woods claimed the top spot.

The tainted golfer has managed "stay ahead of the curve" despite the fact that his total earnings were down more than $9 million from 2009, said SI.com.

By earning nearly 30 million dollars more than his fellow golfer Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods sat pretty on the top spot while Mickelson grabbed the second spot.

As per the seventh annual Fortunate 50 list compiled by SI, Woods' total income stood at 90,508,163 dollars while Mickelson followed with 61,660,757 dollars.

Boxing star Floyd Mayweather Jr came in third with total income of 60,250,000 dollars.

"Pretty Boy shoots back into the top five after a one-year absence thanks to earnings from bouts with Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley, the latter of which netted $40 million in purses and PPV sales," SI said.

On the 20 highest earning international athletes list, Swiss Tennis ace Roger Federer, with an income of 61.8 million dollars, took down soccer star David Beckham from the top spot he had held the last two years.

Beckham was bumped off to the third spot as the Argentine footballer claimed the second spot with a total income of 44,000,000
dollars.
