Bengaluru, December 9: Premier League strugglers West Ham United and Crystal Palace are leading the chase to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings on loan.
Time out due to injury has marred the forward’s last two seasons following his big move from Burnley to Anfield. Having fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool, West Ham and Palace are offering him a chance to save his career.
Ings has not started a Premier League game since the Merseyside derby in October 2015, and the England international is desperate for some first-team action as he is out of the first team picture at Anfield.
The 25-year-old does not want to call it quits on his Anfield career, but is willing to go out on loan to prove his worth to manager Jurgen Klopp.
Newly-appointed West Ham boss David Moyes wants the forward to lead the Hammers' charge to safety, according to the Guardian.
However, the Scot will face competition from Palace, who are just as desperate to bolster their attack as they also look for safety at the end of the campaign.
Stoke City and Brighton and Hove Albion are also eager to sign the out of favour Anfield star.
Ings has been restricted to just 17 minutes of first-team action with the Reds this season since his return from a damaged cartilage.
His only cameo came when he was introduced from the bench against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup in September.
However, he has featured regularly for Liverpool’s Under-23s this season, scoring four times against Stoke and twice more past Bristol City this week. He looks back in shape after two long injury layoffs.
Klopp is monitoring Ings’ progress closely, but he knows several stars are ahead of the him in the pecking order.
Therefore, the German coach is believed to be prepared to allow Ings to go out on loan next month in order to gain proper gamer-time before a return to Merseyside in the summer.
