Paris, June 20: The French police have arrested 557 fans since the start of the Euro 2016 football championship for taking part in violent acts, with 21 expelled from the country, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Monday (June 20).

Cazeneuve considered that the appropriate corrections were made after the altercations that occurred on June 11 in Marseille hours before the England-Russia match.
The minister said that the government has mobilised 70,000 policemen and gendarmes to secure the tournament which started on June 10.
