Brentford manager Thomas Frank admitted that his team fell short of their best performance in the FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle. The Premier League club faced an unexpected defeat at the hands of the Championship's bottom team, Plymouth, at the Gtech Community Stadium. Morgan Whittaker emerged as the standout player for Plymouth, scoring the decisive goal eight minutes before the match ended.
Frank expressed his disappointment with Brentford's performance, noting that they managed only two shots on target and had a low expected goals (xG) of 0.41. "It was a disappointing result and a disappointing performance," he said on the club's official website. He acknowledged that while losing is part of the game, it was not ideal to lose without reaching their highest level.

Plymouth's defence played a crucial role in their victory. They defended with structure, character, and effort, making it challenging for Brentford to break through. Frank praised Plymouth for their well-deserved win and highlighted how their defensive strategy contributed significantly to Brentford's struggles.
Morgan Whittaker was instrumental in securing Plymouth's victory. He skilfully evaded several challenges before scoring past Brentford goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson. This goal underscored Brentford's inability to contain key threats from Plymouth, which ultimately cost them the game.
Reflecting on the match, Frank noted that despite having significant possession and attempts, Brentford lacked sharpness in front of goal. "We had the ball a lot, we tried a lot, but we didn't have the cutting edge," he remarked.
The defeat marked Brentford as one of the most notable exits in this round of the FA Cup. Frank acknowledged that failing to reach their peak performance combined with Plymouth’s effective play led to this outcome. He congratulated Plymouth for their efforts and recognised their deserved success in advancing further in the competition.
