Thomas Frank Confident Tottenham Will Bounce Back Against PSG Following Arsenal Defeat

Thomas Frank expresses confidence that Tottenham will recover from their recent loss to Arsenal as they prepare to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Despite a tough performance against Arsenal, Spurs aim to maintain their unbeaten Champions League record.

Thomas Frank believes Tottenham will recover from their recent defeat to Arsenal when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Spurs suffered a 4-1 loss in the north London derby, placing them ninth in the Premier League. Despite this setback, they have an opportunity to maintain their unbeaten streak in the Champions League as they head to Paris to challenge the reigning champions.

PSG and Tottenham have previously met only once in European competition. In that encounter, PSG came back from a 2-0 deficit to win the UEFA Super Cup on penalties earlier this season. Spurs have remained unbeaten in their last five Champions League matches, achieving four clean sheets during this period. Their longest undefeated run in the competition was between October 2018 and April 2019, spanning seven games.

Tottenham Aims to Recover Against PSG

Although Frank acknowledged that watching the Arsenal game was difficult, he remains confident in his team's ability to rebound. "The performance is always the most important thing. If you can do that on a consistent basis, you have a bigger chance of getting results," said Frank. He admitted that Spurs' performance against Arsenal was poor and emphasized that they are not shying away from acknowledging it.

"There was plenty of intent in terms of what we wanted to do, but we weren't able to compete," added Frank. He highlighted that out of 53 duels and second-ball situations, Spurs succeeded in only 17. This lack of basic execution made it challenging for them to win matches. However, Frank is convinced that Tottenham will deliver a strong performance against PSG.

PSG has been formidable in their recent Champions League outings, winning six of their last seven league phase games with an average of 3.6 goals per match. They have also lost just one of their last six home games against English teams, a narrow 1-0 defeat by Liverpool in March 2025.

Frank is eager for another chance to face PSG, recalling their previous meeting as his first match as Spurs manager. "When you have bad performances, that's when you need deeper analysis," he stated, emphasizing the importance of resetting after setbacks.

Tough Challenges Ahead for Spurs

The upcoming fixtures present significant challenges for Tottenham. They are amidst a demanding four-game stretch involving three tough away matches at grounds like Newcastle United's St James' Park. Facing two top European teams within three days is part of the challenge Frank relishes.

"There will be ups and downs, and then it is how we react," Frank remarked about navigating these challenges. He remains optimistic about moving forward despite setbacks and is determined to see his team respond positively.
