Thomas Frank Confident Tottenham Hotspur Will Be Prepared For Super Cup Final Against PSG

Despite a heavy defeat to Bayern Munich, Thomas Frank is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will be ready for their UEFA Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain. He emphasises the need for energy and preparation ahead of the match.

Thomas Frank remains confident in his Tottenham squad's readiness for their upcoming UEFA Super Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain. This assurance comes despite a 4-0 pre-season loss to Bayern Munich, marking Frank's first defeat since succeeding Ange Postecoglou. The match saw Harry Kane score against his former team before missing a penalty, with Bayern dominating the second half.

Bayern Munich's victory was sealed with goals from Kingsley Coman, Lennart Karl, and Jonah Kusi-Asare. Tottenham struggled offensively, managing only three shots on target and an expected goals (xG) total of 0.36 compared to Bayern's 3.6 from 26 attempts. "We were obviously playing a very good team tonight," Frank stated, acknowledging Bayern as potential Champions League favourites.

Frank Confident Spurs Ready for Super Cup

The defeat ended Tottenham's unbeaten pre-season streak, which included a notable 1-0 win over Arsenal. Their next challenge is against PSG in the Super Cup, marking Frank's first competitive game as Tottenham manager. This match at Bluenergy Stadium will be the first meeting between the clubs, with PSG having won five out of eight matches against English teams in 2025.

Despite Opta simulations giving Spurs an 18.3% chance of winning, Frank is optimistic about facing Luis Enrique’s talented squad. "We will 100% be ready for that game," he asserted, emphasising the importance of preparation in the coming days. He noted that having a regular week without excessive travel would help energise the team.

Reflecting on the Bayern match, Frank admitted that his team did not perform at their best level while praising Bayern’s quality. "They hit a good level; we didn't hit a good level," he said, recognising the need for improvement. He plans to review the game calmly and address areas where energy seemed lacking.

This upcoming Super Cup clash is significant as it marks Frank as the first manager to debut with an English club in this competition. With six days until the match, he aims to conduct three or four effective training sessions to ensure his players are fully prepared to face PSG.

The anticipation builds as Tottenham gears up for their Premier League season opener following this high-profile encounter with PSG. The team's performance will be closely watched by fans eager to see how they fare under Frank’s leadership against top-tier European competition.
