Thomas Frank Acknowledges Arsenal's Strength Regardless Of Potential Changes For Champions League

Brentford manager Thomas Frank expects Arsenal to maintain their competitive edge against his team, regardless of any squad rotation for the Champions League. He highlights the Gunners' consistent style and effectiveness in London derbies.

Thomas Frank is not counting on Arsenal's Champions League commitments to ease the challenge for Brentford in their upcoming Premier League clash. This match is scheduled between Arsenal's two-legged European quarter-final against Real Madrid. Arsenal secured a commanding 3-0 victory at home against the reigning champions, positioning themselves favourably for the return leg.

With Liverpool nearing the league title, Arsenal, sitting second, might consider resting key players like Bukayo Saka. Saka recently returned from injury and excelled against Real Madrid. However, Frank does not foresee any significant change in Arsenal's approach, even if they rotate their squad. "No matter which players they put out there, they will be good players," he stated.

Frank Acknowledges Arsenal's Ongoing Threat

Frank acknowledged that Arsenal maintains a consistent playing style regardless of personnel changes. "They play the same style, with the same principles, no matter who is on the pitch," he noted. Although some positional adjustments may occur, their overall structure remains unchanged. Brentford has been strong away from home recently, winning five consecutive matches before a loss to Newcastle United.

The last time Brentford triumphed at Arsenal was in 1938. As Frank prepares his team for this encounter, he understands the need to adapt to Arsenal's strengths. "I would like to play as offensive as possible," he said, "but we need to defend a bit against Arsenal!" He hopes Brentford can apply pressure effectively in midfield and high up the pitch.

Bukayo Saka is a player Brentford hopes will be rested by Arsenal. Since returning from injury, Saka has been impressive and enjoys playing against London rivals. In his last 17 derbies in the capital, he has contributed directly to 15 goals—scoring eight and assisting seven.

On Brentford's side, Christian Norgaard tends to shine against Arsenal specifically. Of Brentford's six Premier League goals against the Gunners, Norgaard has been involved in three—scoring twice and assisting once. He also scored in consecutive away games before their defeat at Newcastle.

Match Prediction: Favouring Arsenal

Arsenal has dominated recent encounters with Brentford, winning five of their last six Premier League meetings and drawing one. The Gunners have also excelled in London derbies, winning 12 of their past 15 while scoring five or more goals in five of those matches. Despite the looming Madrid fixture, Brentford might hope to avoid a heavy defeat given their recent success in away London derbies.

The Opta win probability suggests a 56.4% chance of an Arsenal victory, with a draw at 22.9% and a Brentford win at 20.7%. While Brentford has won their last two away London derbies, facing an in-form Arsenal remains a formidable challenge.
