London, Dec 14: Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner is ready to end his six-year association with Serie A giants in January after reports have merged that the Bianconeri are not ready to offer him a new contract.

Lichtsteiner currently has only six months left in his contract and has been surplus to requirements in the current Juventus squad as he is been demoted in the pecking order behind new signing Mattia De Sciglio and Benedikt Howedes.

Although the defender till now has made 13 appearances in all competitions but has only been handed the game time when both of the possible fullback choices were injured.

The former Juventus captain earlier at the start of the season got a hint of such negative response from manager Allegri after he was omitted from Champions league 25 man squad.

However, then the player suggested that he is ready to fight for his place in a bid to overcome his position in the squad. He also recommended that he would like to extend his stay in Turin but as per reports, the Juve officials are not ready to offer him a contract extension.

Now, it looks like now the player himself has got fed up with the lack of opportunity with the Seria giants and now has set his mind elsewhere to move in a different club.

The player is said to afraid of losing his place in the coming 2018 World Cup in Russia and to make a challenge for his place in the coming big tournament he reportedly expressed his desire to play regular football to be in shape and form.

The Switzerland international had stints with Grasshopper, Lille and Lazio before coming to Juventus in 2011 and had been one of the influential figures of the Juventus side that won six Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia crowns during his stay.
