Fulham Manager Marco Silva Criticises Team's Lack Of Focus Amid European Ambitions Fading

Marco Silva expressed disappointment over Fulham's lack of focus following a 3-1 defeat to Everton. The team squandered chances and dropped crucial points in the Premier League, impacting their European ambitions.

Fulham's manager, Marco Silva, expressed disappointment over his team's lack of focus following a 3-1 defeat to Everton. Despite starting strong with Raul Jimenez's header putting them ahead, Fulham failed to capitalise on further chances. Vitalii Mykolenko equalised for Everton just before half-time. In the second half, goals from Michael Keane and Beto secured Everton's victory.

This loss marked Fulham's fourth defeat in five matches. The team has dropped 28 points from winning positions this season, tying with Southampton for the most in the Premier League. Silva, serving a touchline ban, criticised his players' concentration during crucial moments. "We have to correct the things which happened with us in the last three or four games," Silva told BBC Sport.

Silva Critiques Fulham's Focus After Loss

Silva emphasised the importance of maintaining focus during decisive moments of the season. He noted that losing concentration has been a recurring issue in recent matches. "It's about concentration and focus," he stated. "We have to blame ourselves because it didn't happen before, but it did in the last few weeks."

Everton manager David Moyes praised striker Beto for his performance, as he netted his seventh goal since Moyes' return. Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak (both with ten goals), and Jean-Philippe Mateta (nine goals) have scored more than Beto since January. "He's done great, he's improving," Moyes said to BBC Sport.

Moyes acknowledged Beto's progress despite not being a young striker anymore. He expressed hope that Beto would continue scoring in upcoming matches. This victory was Everton's first comeback win from a 1-0 deficit away since October 2022 against Southampton.

Everton's Resilience Pays Off

Moyes admitted dissatisfaction with Everton's initial performance but commended their resilience. "It didn't look [like it would go] that way after the first 20, 25 minutes," he said. Despite struggling early on, Everton managed to secure a win through determination and effort.

The upcoming week holds significance for Everton as they prepare for their final match at Goodison Park against Southampton. Moyes highlighted the importance of this event to his players: "I have just said to the players we have the biggest game of the season next week, and we are all ready for it," he concluded.
