Fulham And Ipswich Town Play Out Thrilling 2-2 Draw With Two Penalties From Raul Jimenez

In a thrilling Premier League match, Fulham and Ipswich Town ended in a 2-2 draw. Raul Jimenez scored two penalties for Fulham, while Ipswich's Liam Delap also netted from the spot. The result leaves both teams in tight positions in the league table.

Fulham and Ipswich Town ended their Premier League clash in a 2-2 draw, marked by three penalties. Raul Jimenez scored twice from the spot for Fulham at Craven Cottage. Ipswich initially took the lead when Sammie Szmodics capitalised on a poor clearance by Calvin Bassey late in the first half. The rest of the match was dominated by penalty decisions.

Jimenez converted his first penalty in the 69th minute after Sam Morsy fouled Harry Wilson. However, Ipswich quickly regained their lead. Liam Delap was brought down by Timothy Castagne, and he scored his eighth league goal of the season from the resulting penalty. This put Ipswich on track for consecutive Premier League wins for the first time this season.

Dramatic 2-2 Draw Between Fulham and Ipswich Town

Despite Ipswich's efforts, Leif Davis' late challenge on Jimenez allowed Fulham to equalise with another penalty in the 91st minute. This result kept Ipswich in the relegation zone, trailing behind Wolves on goal difference. Fulham remained ninth in the standings, two points behind Aston Villa.

This match was notable as it was the first since Fulham's win over Wolves in November 2023 to feature three penalties with at least one for each team. Remarkably, only two minutes and 44 seconds separated Jimenez's first successful penalty and Delap's goal that put Ipswich ahead again.

The quick succession of penalties set a record for the shortest time between two successful spot-kicks in a Premier League game since records began in 2006-07. Despite this, Ipswich couldn't maintain their advantage as Davis' foul on Jimenez led to Fulham's equaliser.

Jimenez demonstrated his penalty prowess by choosing different sides for each kick. His perfect record from ten attempts is surpassed only by Cole Palmer (12/12) and Yaya Toure (11/11) in Premier League history.
