Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta provides fresh update on Gabriel, Calafiori ahead of Fulham visit

By MyKhel Staff

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided the latest update on the injuries of Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori on Friday (December 6).

Arteta faces uncertainty regarding the availability of defenders Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori ahead of their crucial Premier League match against Fulham.

Gabriel

Gabriel has been dealing with discomfort from the games against Sporting CP and West Ham, with Arteta admitting it was a "big risk" to play him in the win over Manchester United.

Similarly, Calafiori, who recently returned from a knee injury, remains a doubt after coming off early in the West Ham match. Arteta indicated their fitness would depend on how they perform in the next training sessions.

"Until we see tomorrow's training sessions, it is very difficult to say. It depends on how they evolve in the next few days," Arteta said in the pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to Fulham.

In their absence, Arteta turned to Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko against United, both of whom impressed and contributed to a clean sheet. Kiwior, in particular, had a terrific outing against the Red Devils.

"Big credit to Jakub and Alex [Zinchenko]. I think it's the first start for Jakub after a long time, you have to be thrown against this kind of opposition, this kind of front players," Arteta said after the Man United victory.

Arsenal also secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester United, which was also their 4th straight league win over the Red Devils. Incidentally, William Saliba and Jurrien Timber - two defenders found the net from set-pieces for Arteta's team.

Arsenal's trip to Fulham is vital as the Gunners look to maintain their momentum in the title race. The North London club has won their last four matches and know a win at Fulham is necessary for them. They lost at Fulham last season and wouldn't want to repeat the same at the Craven Cottage this weekend.
