London, Nov 25: Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has already admitted that he is targetting the City top scorer's Sergio Aguero's feat despite landing in the club just 9 months ago.
The 20-year-old touched base in January from Palmeiras for around £30 million and already has added seventeen goals to his name, having played only 28 matches for the club.
Since his arrival, Guardiola has often preferred the young Brazilian ahead of Argentine Aguero but also frequently played both the striker together in a formation.
Whenever both the strikers have played together, they have made a deadly impact and together have already scored 16 goals in 19 appearances in the Premier League.
But since left back Mendy's injury, the two have not been called off together as Pep earlier suggested that playing together can now cause disbalance in the formation.
However, whenever one of the strikers was called off into the game, they delivered and recently Aguero surpassed City all-time top scorer Erik Brook after he scored the 178th goal for City against Napoli.
And while talking about the record, the young teammate of Aguero, Jesus now suggested that he also wants to match the record of Aguero in future and playing with him will only develop his game further.
“Sergio has broken an amazing record for City”, the Brazil international said to City website.
“I support him totally and I hope I can beat his record as soon as possible. I get on very well with Sergio, he’s an amazing guy.
“All of us know what type of player he is and he’s also a fantastic person. I’m a big fan of his and it’s great to play alongside him. When you have a good relationship off the pitch, it’s easier to bring it onto it.
“We help each other and we both fight for the shirt.”
Jesus also carrying an impressive record with him as the Brazilian youngster has clocked up an amazing 391 days since he was last part of a losing side for both club and country and while talking about the record, he suggested that playing in great teams is an advantage.
“I’m very happy to have gone all that time without losing a game but it’s not only me”, he added.
“It’s thanks to the teams and the team-mates I have played with at Palmeiras, the Brazilian national team, and now Manchester City.
“It’s good to reach that milestone of a whole year, but I must keep working hard in training sessions and performing well in games.”
Manchester City are currently standing at the top of the league with eight points advantage over rival Manchester United and will hope to continue their unbeaten run in the league on Sunday when they travel to Huddersfield away in their next match.
