Gian Piero Gasperini has acknowledged that Atalanta's upcoming Champions League clash with Arsenal will be a tough challenge. The Italian side has had a mixed start to their Serie A season, currently sitting eighth with two wins and two losses from their first four matches.
Atalanta recently secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Fiorentina. Despite trailing twice to goals from Lucas Martinez Quarta and Moise Kean, they managed to come back with goals from Mateo Retegui, Charles De Ketelaere, and Ademola Lookman.

Reflecting on the match, Gasperini highlighted the resilience of his team. "We showed great character to come back twice," he said. This win has given them a boost ahead of their European campaign.
Gasperini is aware of the formidable task ahead as they prepare to face Arsenal in their first league-phase match next week. He praised Arsenal's dynamism and quality, noting, "It's not just their aerial power; it's the way they run and move the ball."
The Atalanta coach also pointed out that Arsenal dominated the Premier League last season alongside Manchester City and Liverpool. "We have never played against them," he added, "and I think they will be a big test for us because of their intensity, quality, and pace."
The recent international break has posed additional challenges for Gasperini's preparations. He expressed frustration over its timing, stating, "Having the break for international duty was not helpful, as so many of them left again straight away."
Gasperini emphasised the need for his team to find stability and get their mechanisms running smoothly. "I think first of all this team needs to find solidity," he said.
This upcoming match against Arsenal will be crucial for Atalanta as they step up to the revamped Champions League. With Gasperini at the helm, they aim to build on their Europa League success from last season.
