London, March 8: Leipzig young sensation Timo Werner has revealed that he dreams of playing in the Premier League, however, would happily ditch Liverpool and other Premier League clubs to play for Manchester United. The 21-year-old is making headlines in the German league and reportedly denied a new contract offer from the Bundesliga side, after getting attention from all over the world.
Earlier some of the recent reports suggested that Bundesliga rival Bayern Munich is monitoring the situation of the German youngster whereas Spanish giants Real Madrid and other Premier League rivals Liverpool, Arsenal are also eyeing a probable move for the young ace.
And while talking about his future the German sensation has claimed that he would love to play for two or three top clubs, but in England has particularly named United as his preferred destination.
The RB Leipzig striker in an exclusive interview with FourFourTwo magazine has also while talking about his ambition jabbed a sly dig at Liverpool.
He claimed that although he loves seeing Liverpool play such high-quality football but playing for English giants Manchester United has always been his dream and he would gracefully join them instead of their arch-rivals with a hope of winning titles.
He said: “Yes, playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs. But probably not in the next few years – later, when my English is a little bit better! I’m very comfortable at RB Leipzig, though.
“Manchester United and Liverpool were the teams I watched quite a lot in England. They were the two that I’m a little bit a fan of because they have so much history. When Alex Ferguson was the coach, United won everything and they were outstanding.
“In Liverpool it’s also their stadium and the atmosphere, but when I have to decide, I’m more Manchester United than Liverpool. I'm now at a point where at some stage in the future I'd like to play in a team that wins titles.”
The 21-year-old Werner joined Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig last Summer for €10 million from Stuttgart after his side faced relegation and had a wonderful debut season where he scored 21 times.
His scoring boot is continuing to develop this season also as well as he has just scored sixteen goals and helped in scoring three more in all competitions already. His impressive performance also has given him a call-up in the German national side last year where he also has scored seven times till now.
Werner although would not come cheap considering that he has a contract with the German side till 2020 and reportedly should his club decide to sell him eventually, they could command a fee at least in the region of £50m.
