Germany damage World Cup Trophy during celebrations in Berlin

Berlin, July 22: The FIFA World Cup Trophy has been damaged by current champions Germany during their celebrations in Berlin last week. However, FIFA will not be worried as it is only the replica of the original.

According to German Football Association (DFB) president Wolfgang Niersbach, the trophy was damaged during their celebrations in Berlin in front of thousands of fans.

"At one point, a small piece (of our World Cup Trophy) is chipped off but do not worry. We have specialists who can fix it," Niersbach told German national daily "De Welt".

"We have investigated persistently, but the investigation was concluded without a result," the 63-year-old added.

Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 in the 2014 World Cup final at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium on July 13. This was their fourth World Cup title.
