Giacomo Raspadori Joins Atalanta On A Two-and-a-Half-Year Deal From Atletico Madrid

Atalanta have signed Giacomo Raspadori from Atletico Madrid on a two-and-a-half-year deal, strengthening Raffaelle Palladino's attacking options as they pursue European qualification. The 25-year-old Italy international previously impressed in Serie A with Napoli, Sassuolo, and his earlier spells, and previously starred for Italy in Euro 2021.

Atalanta have completed the signing of Giacomo Raspadori from Atletico Madrid, adding another option in attack. The Serie A club have confirmed a two-and-a-half-year contract for the forward, who is 25, after head coach Raffaelle Palladino revealed the move in a press conference on Thursday.

Italian reports state Atalanta have agreed a 23m fee for Raspadori, as Palladino strengthens the squad for a push towards European qualification. The deal returns Raspadori to Serie A, where the striker has built a strong scoring record with Sassuolo and Napoli across previous seasons.

Giacomo Raspadori to Atalanta

Raspadori left Napoli for Atletico Madrid during the summer but has struggled for goals in Spain. The striker has scored twice in 15 matches in all competitions and has not scored in 12 LaLiga appearances. The move to Atalanta offers a fresh chance in a familiar league.

Across earlier spells with Sassuolo and Napoli, Raspadori has recorded 31 goals and 15 assists in 164 Serie A games. Raspadori also played a role in Napoli’s Scudetto success last season, scoring six league goals. That club campaign placed Raspadori behind only Romelu Lukaku, with 14, and Scott McTominay, with 12, under Antonio Conte.

Raspadori’s international record has also been significant for Italy. The forward has struck 11 goals across 45 appearances for the national team. One of those matches came during Italy’s European Championships triumph in 2021, adding major tournament experience to Atalanta’s forward group.

Raspadori’s club and international statistics underline Atalanta’s motives for the investment. The move from Atletico Madrid reunites Raspadori with Serie A football, where previous numbers have been consistent. Atalanta now gain a versatile forward as the club target another season of European qualification under Palladino.
