Jonatan Giraldez has taken on the role of head coach at Lyon, signing a contract that extends until June 2028. The 33-year-old previously led Barcelona from 2021 to 2024, securing three league titles and consecutive Women's Champions League victories in 2023 and 2024. His recent stint with the Washington Spirit saw him win the NWSL Challenge Cup, but he has now opted to return to Europe.

In both 2023 and 2024, he received the UEFA Women's Coach of the Year award as well as the Best FIFA Women's Coach accolade. Notably, he was also the youngest nominee for the Best Women's Coach award at the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony.
