Glasner Receives 100% Assurance Of Crystal Palace Backing From Club Hierarchy

Oliver Glasner asserts full backing from Crystal Palace's hierarchy for the remainder of the season. The affirmation follows a run of positive results, including a Conference League progress, amid talks about his future and the club's ongoing season in the Premier League.

Oliver Glasner states that Crystal Palace’s board is backing the head coach for the rest of the season, as progress to the UEFA Conference League last 16 and recent results ease pressure after weeks of criticism and public frustration around performances and Glasner’s own comments.

Palace reached the knockout stage by beating Zrinjski 2-0 at Selhurst Park, sealing a 3-1 aggregate victory, with Maxence Lacroix and Evann Guessand scoring, and that result followed a late league win over Wolves which lifted the mood after a difficult spell.

Glasner backed by Palace hierarchy

That Zrinjski tie has given Palace a clear European path, with the Eagles now waiting to discover whether Mainz or Larnaca will be their opponents in the quarter-final play-off, and Glasner describes this period as a chance to shape what could still be judged a very strong campaign.

Glasner’s future was questioned after a poor run and a flat 1-1 draw in the first leg against Zrinjski, yet back-to-back victories across competitions have eased concern among some supporters, even though banners at Selhurst Park recently read "Opportunities missedboard inept. Fans disrespectedGlasner finished."

Despite that visible anger, Glasner says the dressing room remains united and insists the hierarchy is fully behind the coaching staff as Crystal Palace continue both their Premier League push and Conference League campaign during what could be one of the club’s strongest seasons statistically.

When asked if he had received any assurances about his future, Glasner said: "100% assurance. If the players believe in me and the staff, that's the most important thing. Otherwise, you can pack your suitcase and go home because the players have to perform on the pitch. We have great togetherness in the groupplayers, staff, really positive. The same with the sporting director and the chairman."

The Austrian, who is leaving the club at the end of the season, accepts that several interviews increased tension, yet Glasner still stresses commitment to Crystal Palace’s targets in 2025-26 and continues to underline relationships with the sporting director, the chairman and senior players.

Match Competition Venue Result

Zrinjski vs Crystal Palace Conference League, first leg Away 1-1 draw
Crystal Palace vs Zrinjski Conference League, second leg Selhurst Park 2-0 home win, 3-1 aggregate

Reflecting on the wider picture, Glasner said: "They are sometimes wondering, 'Hey, this is the second-best Premier League season ever. The best was last year. So maybe the best two years in Crystal Palace's history, playing European football for the first timeand there is so much noise?' Sometimes we really don't understand it. Maybe I gave some interviews that weren't really helpful, I have to admit. But on the other hand, I always say what I feel. Sometimes it's positive, sometimes it's not so positive. But that's who I am."

Earlier this season, pressure intensified when Glasner delivered a heated assessment after captain Marc Guehi left Crystal Palace for Manchester City, with the head coach saying the "squad was being abandoned", a phrase that drew strong reaction and added to scrutiny around squad planning.

Glasner now points to league position and European progress as evidence that stability remains, adding: "In the end, we are in a good position in the league and Conference League and so it's up to us to get a result and make a real good season of it."

Attention now turns to Old Trafford, where Crystal Palace visit an in-form Manchester United side on Sunday, a test that follows two straight wins at Selhurst Park and offers Glasner another chance to reinforce belief among fans and decision-makers.

Speaking after the Zrinjski victory, Glasner said: "It means a lot. We didn't have easy weeks and therefore now having two back-to-back wins at Selhurst Park. The games where everyone is expecting a win are often the most difficult one. Playing Wolves at home, everyone was expecting a win and we did it in the final minutes, and today the same. Today was a very clinical win. We took our lessons from the first game and then waited for our moments, and then at the end decided the game."

As Crystal Palace balance Premier League fixtures with the Conference League campaign, Glasner’s relationship with players, staff and the board, plus the response to recent controversy and results, will shape how this season and Glasner’s departure are judged by supporters and observers.
