Glasner Voices Concerns About Trevoh Chalobah's Future Amid Chelsea Recall Speculation

Oliver Glasner of Crystal Palace is concerned that Trevoh Chalobah may be recalled by Chelsea during the January transfer window. The defender has performed well on loan but faces uncertainty regarding his future.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has acknowledged the possibility of Trevoh Chalobah being recalled by Chelsea in January. Chalobah joined Palace on a season-long loan in August, seeking regular playtime amid Chelsea's squad changes. The 25-year-old has impressed with 12 Premier League appearances after recovering from an abdominal injury. Chelsea recently recalled Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors, raising concerns about Chalobah's future at Palace.

Glasner expressed uncertainty about Chalobah's situation, stating, "It's a tricky situation. I always want to be honest. Chelsea has the possibility to call him back from loan. There's a little bit of uncertainty at the moment: will they do it, when will they do it? We need clarity, he needs clarity." He added that both he and Chalobah wish for him to remain at Palace.

Glasner Worries About Chalobah's Chelsea Recall

Ruud van Nistelrooy, Leicester City's manager, discussed his transfer strategy for the current window as the club aims to strengthen its squad. Leicester is currently 19th in the Premier League and hasn't won in six matches since Van Nistelrooy's debut victory against West Ham. The team is reportedly interested in Parma defender Woyo Coulibaly.

Van Nistelrooy emphasised that any new signings must benefit both parties involved. He stated, "We cannot confirm any news on any new player so far today, so let's see how things develop." He highlighted that discussions before his appointment were focused on potential January arrivals.

Jamie Vardy ended his four-game goal drought with a penalty during Leicester's 6-2 FA Cup victory over Queens Park Rangers. Vardy aims to continue this momentum into Wednesday's match. The veteran striker has scored seven times in 18 Premier League appearances against Crystal Palace.

Eberechi Eze has been performing well for Crystal Palace recently, contributing three goal involvements (two goals and one assist) in his last three matches across all competitions. Eze's assist against Chelsea brought him level with Christian Benteke on 46 Premier League goal involvements for Palace.

Match Prediction: Crystal Palace Win

Crystal Palace remains unbeaten in their last five away league games (W2 D3). Historically, only twice have they gone six consecutive top-flight away games without losing. Only Everton (53%) have scored a higher percentage of their Premier League goals this season from set-pieces than Glasner's side (38%).

Leicester City is winless in their last five Premier League matches, conceding two or more goals each time. This marks the longest ongoing losing streak in this season's competition. They have also kept only one clean sheet this season and have recorded just two shutouts in their last 43 games.

The Opta win probability suggests a 46.9% chance of a Crystal Palace victory compared to Leicester's 27.9%, with a draw at 25.2%. Despite past successes against Leicester between 2017 and 2019, Palace has won just one of their last nine encounters with the Foxes.
